Audio Manager, Sound Designer, Sound Engineer. I spent 14 months of blood, sweat and tears working on the sound for this hit game from Activision. I designed all the sound effects, I edited all the dialogue and mixed all the music into the game. One of the most beautiful projects I’ve ever worked on.
Audio Manager, Sound Designer, Sound Engineer. This was the VERY FIRST computer game that included Full Motion Video!! By today’s standards, it is very rudimentary, but back in 1993, it was beyond anything anyone had ever seen and it’s success paved the way for all the games you play and enjoy today.
Co-Producer, Commentary Interviewer and Editor. I’m very proud of this Laserdisc release of the classic movie, “Midnight Cowboy”. As an MFA Film student at CalArts while working on this, I thought the interviews with the Producer and Director of the film hit all the right notes fulfilling all the “behind the scene” stories in the making of this film.
Sound Engineer. I was also the Sound Manager at Activision Studios from 1992 to 1999. I processed much of the sound effects that came to me from Soundelux Studios who did most of the sound effects for this game. I supplied a few dozen last minute sound effect files as needed.
Sound Designer and Sound Engineer/Mixer. Marcel Langenegger was an up and coming movie director and writer. Before he started his career, he was a student of mine at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Marcel’s short film, “The Chair” won many awards and started his commercial and movie career. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly in 2015.
Sound Designer. I incorporated a new 3D Aural Sound engine created by Dan Bates of E.A.R (Extreme Audio Reality) and it became the first game to have real time 3D audio. Sound effects were attached to the people as well as the hockey puck so the player could track where the people and objects were by their sound, even if they moved out of the screen. It was revolutionary.
Commentary Interviewer and Commentary Editor. I was one of the commentary interviewers and commentary editors for this epic movie. Mark Brems was the other collaborator. Going to Mr. Kirk Douglas’ home and interviewing him was a highlight of my career! He was very warm, inviting and candid with his comments about the making of this film.
I was credited as Additional Sound Effects and Engineer for this project. The main sound designer was Derek Sample. Soundelux Studios provided most of the weapon sounds. It is still a cult classic because of the incredibly awesome music, the campy dialogue, the acting and the gameplay.
Audio Engineer. I only include this because it was the very first movie ever released on CD-ROM. This was before movies became available on CD and before Blu Ray discs. I was the audio engineer in charge of compressing the audio so it would fit on the single CD-ROM disc. The technology was not great but it has historical significance in the evolution of video technology.
Commentary Interviewer and Commentary Editor. This is a fantastic movie. Before this project was picked up by Criterion, I happened to pop into a movie theater on a blazing hot summer day in Los Angeles because it had air conditioning. I didn’t know anything about the movie at all. But I was blown away by the heart and beauty and depth of The Fisher King. About a week later, the commentary track was assigned to me at Criterion and I was elated! What a treat!
Production Assistant. I include this movie because it was the very first full length feature film for Woody Harrelson, although it was not released as his first movie. I was a Production Assistant and wore many hats. I was the office assistant, boom operator for a few scenes, I acquired and supplied many of the props for the movie, I was a location scout and many more things. It was quite the learning experience!
